“Alarum” tries to be a thrilling spy drama but falls flat on its face. Director Michael Polish fails to capitalize on the star power of Scott Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone, whose performances are as wooden as the forest setting. Willa Fitzgerald fares slightly better but can’t salvage this snoozefest. The plot about rogue spies on the run had potential, but the execution is amateurish, with more holes than Swiss cheese. The action sequences are predictable, and the tension never builds as it should. At 3.3/10 on IMDB, the rating is spot-on. Save your time and money, unless you’re a die-hard Stallone fan looking to complete your collection. For others, this is strictly one to avoid. Two rogue spies go off-grid, marry, and come under attack at their remote cabin hideaway by various intel agencies seeking a stolen hard drive.
